Expert says “Tesla has no plans to establish a factory in Turkey”

Automotive journalist Emre Özpeynirci wrote that Tesla had no plans to establish a factory in Turkey. According to an official statement made earlier, Erdogan was said to have called on Musk to establish Tesla’s 7th factory in Turkey.

In September 2023, President Erdogan went to New York to attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly and held meetings. Erdogan also met with businessman Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter, during his visit. According to the statement from the Presidency Communication Presidency about the meeting, Erdogan was said to have called on Musk to establish Tesla’s 7th factory in Turkey.

Automotive journalist Emre Özpeynirci wrote that Tesla had no plans to establish a factory in Turkey.

In his article published in Gazete Pencere today, Özpeynirci said the following about the issue: “By the way, after Elon Musk’s meeting with President Erdogan in New York, the possibility of Tesla investing in Turkey came up. However, I heard that Tesla has no plans to establish a factory in Turkey. I hope I heard wrong and that the investment comes. But let’s not forget that no new brand has invested in Turkey for 26 years, and those that existed have left.”
