480,000 people relocate between provinces for better housing & living conditions in Turkey last year

According to TURKSTAT data, 2 million 791 thousand 156 people relocated between provinces in Turkey last year. Istanbul became both the province that received the most migration and the one that gave the most migration. When the reasons for migration were examined, it was seen that 526 thousand people emigrated due to education and 479 thousand 250 people migrated due to better housing and living conditions.

According to this, the rate of inter-provincial migrating population in the country, which was 3.18 percent in the period 2007-2008, became 3.27 percent in 2022.

Within this framework, 2 million 791 thousand 156 people replaced between provinces in Turkey last year. Males constituted 47.9% of this population and females 52.1%.

BETTER HOUSING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

Last year, 591 thousand 790 of those who migrated between provinces migrated being dependent on one of the members of the household. When the other reasons for emigration were examined, it was seen that 526 thousand 8 people had emigrated due to education and 479 thousand 250 people due to better housing and living conditions.

When the reason for migration by gender was examined, it was seen that migration mobility was experienced by both men and women as dependent on one of the members of the household the most. 237 thousand 574 people for men and 354 thousand 216 people for women emigrated dependent on one of the members of the household.

THE HIGHEST MIGRATION MOBILITY IS IN THE 20-24 AGE GROUP

In Turkey, the highest migration mobility last year took place in the 20-24 age group with 643 thousand 998 people. Men made up 42.5 percent of the emigrants in this age group and women made up 57.5 percent.

The reason for the migration of the 20-24 age group, which is the age group with the highest migration mobility in Turkey in 2022, was education. It was determined that 257 thousand 676 of the immigrants in this age group emigrated due to education, 91 thousand 612 of them started working and found a job, and 50 thousand 338 of them emigrated due to better housing and living conditions.
