English Channel deal signed for £3m, not submitted to Turkey’s Parliament, by government

1,000 MIGRANTS FROM TURKEY CROSS ENGLISH CHANNEL SINCE BEGINNING 2023

According to the British press, since the beginning of the year, more than 1,000 migrants from Turkey have crossed the English Channel by boats and reached the UK, this figure has increased significantly compared to previous years.

Turkey had previously agreed to become a buffer zone for asylum seekers in exchange for EU financial support. It is stated that this agreement with the UK, which is stated to have a financial size of 3 million pounds in the first place, has similar provisions.

CHP leader Kemal KILICDAROGLU criticized the agreement and said, “It is extremely grave and problematic. It is interference in Turkey’s internal system. We have learned about the issue from the British. After that, it is also stated that a similar readmission agreement with the EU will be on the agenda. There is also no statement from the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Interior, as well as the Embassy in London and the General Directorate of Security on this issue.
