A world giant automotive manufacturer: Tofaş Automobile Factory

TOFAŞ (Türk Otomobil Fabrikası A.Ş.) was founded by Vehbi Koç, the founder of Koç Group, in 1968. Koç Holding A.S. as an automobile producing company. Fiat Auto S.P.A have both equal shares of the company located in Bursa with 37.8 percent each. TOFAS.

Tofaş can produce both passenger and light commercial vehicles. As one of the major manufacturers of the Turkish automotive industry, it has a production capacity of 400,000 vehicles per year and more than 6,500 employees.

In 2013, Tofaş factory in Bursa reached the Golden Level within the scope of WCM (World Class Production Program) implemented at 175 factories of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The company also produces for Citroen, Peugeot, Opel and Vauxhall brands, on top of its Fiat production.

The company has a strong and long tradition in the automotive sector in Turkey and conducts sales and after sales operations of brands such as Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Ferrari and Maserati. It also has another business called OTOEKSPER for trading of second hand cars.

Tofaş exports to over 80 countries and its exports figure for 2013 was recorded at 160,000 vehicles with TL 7 billion sales revenue for the same year.

Tofaş realizes 22 percent of total production in Turkey and has increased its export capacity in recent years to euro 1, billion.
