Airlines to introduce “travel pass” app similar to digital Covid-19 certificates

Willie Walsh, general manager of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has said today that the test phase of the “travel pass” application, similar to the Digital Covid-19 certificate showing Covid-19 test results and vaccine certificates, will be completed and concerned mobile application will be launched soon.

Said application similar to the Digital Covid-19 certificate tested by some airlines, will be used to facilitate the process of screening passengers at airport check-in and boarding in the first place, according to IATA.

IATA Managing Director Willie Walsh told reporters during an online news conference that  “The feedback had been very positive.” He used the expression “We hope to finalize the testing phase of (the mobile app) in the next few weeks.”About 60 thousand people have signed up to test the app” Walsh added.

Meanwhile, the European Parliament (EP) approved the introduction of a digital vaccine certificate, which would pave the way for free travel within the European Union (EU), ) the other day.

After approval by the EU Council, the decision will come into force on July 1
