TUI CANCELS BOOKINGS FOR TURKEY

Tourism giant TUI of UK which keeps Turkey on the “Red travel list” due to the Covid-19 outbreak, has cancelled Turkey bookings of British tourists until July 12.

In a written statement to Euronews thee company said,Due to the ongoing uncertainty in Turkey, we are unfortunately cancelling all holiday bookings for this country, including July 11. We are in the process of guiding customers who may request a refund, want to postpone their booking to a later date or replace it with an alternative holiday”

Officials declined to give an exact number, but said the cancellations amounted to more than a thousand.

The decision on international travel bans in the UK where life has gradually returned to normal, was taken on June 8. Under the plans, from this date countries were divided into 3 categories, which included different rules and were called green, yellow and red.

According to the application, also known as the” traffic light system”, there is no 10-day quarantine requirement for passengers from countries on the green list. The current quarantine rule continues for those from countries on the yellow list. Travellers from countries on the Red List have to stay in quarantine for 10 days at a hotel at their own expense when they arrive in the UK.

Turkey, on the other hand, is on the red list with countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Egypt until July 12. The list, available from the British government’s official website, will be updated on 24 June.
