EU VACCINE PASSPORT APPLIED IN JUNE

Austria and twelve EU states agreed to draw up “clear criteria and a list of common priorities for “Green Tourism” Passport.” The Tourism Ministry informed after Monday’s virtual meeting of the heads of departments that the list would be voted on among the 13 EU countries by Easter and sent to the European Commission.”

Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger had made the invitation to negotiate. Colleagues from Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta and Bulgaria responded to this call. Before the meeting, it had been stated that the participants were countries where tourism played an important role.

Köstinger said “The Green Passport” should be valid and readable at every airport and hotel in Europe. The practical application is therefore very important for tourism.” We should facilitate travel opportunities for EU injected, recovered and tested EU nationals.

Can it be implemented from the beginning of June?

The question is if this application can be put into effect as of beginning of June. Köstinger had announced the meeting last week. On Monday, she also met with European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas on the issue. She is understood to hope the green passport will make the tourist attractions more attractive to local and international guests. According to the European Commission, green certificates will consist of three types of passport: vaccine, testing (PCR and antigen) and healing will be printed on both digital and paper documents the findings of the evidence, QR codes and digital signatures, the authenticity of the documents will be confirmed.

The EU Commission also wants to support EU countries in the development of software where the”green certificate” can be verified across the EU. A kind of identity document will be issued free of charge in the official languages of the respective countries and in English. The certificate will be mutually recognized by the 27 member states. In principle, the issue of what facilities will be provided to travelers with this document will be left to EU countries.
