TOURISM PERSONNEL IN TURKEY(1)

People of two countries that is Russians and Germans in particular renting houses in Antalya due to the war in Ukraine haver caused rents in the city to increase significantly. Local residents are trying to find a way out due to high rents. Until yesterday, the rents of houses that they paid 1,500-2,000 TL suddenly increased twice at least.

Landlords take out their tenants under stereotypical pretexts such as ’I will sell my house, my son will come from Germany” and rent their houses for higher monies after a few days. Of course, everyone wants to get the highest profit from their investment, but a little conscientiousness should be exercised. It has become almost impossible to find a house in the city for TL 4,000-5,000. The following question should be asked: “If tourism employees have housing problems in a city built on tourism sector, what problems could be incurred after a short while?”

Bodrum, Marmaris, Cesme, Ayvalik, they all have the same situation. Tourism resorts had become more difficult for tourism employees due to rising rents due to the pandemic effect. Nowadays, when it is a dream to own a house, it is no longer easy to become a tenant, either. When you chat with the tourism employees, you can personally hear this information. It is now very difficult for families without a home to shelter in tourist resorts. If measures are not taken, the sector will stop saying “we cannot find qualified employees” and start saying “we cannot even find people to work”.

SECTOR MAY NOT FIND PEOPLE TO EMPLY SOON

Tourism employees who resisted with all their might to stay in the sector due to many problems in the near past, are now being pushed into the abyss about housing which is the most basic need. People who will have to give their salaries to rent will get tired and leave the sector, eventually.
