An earthquake drill will be held at 18:57 on November 12 (today)
The earthquake drill, which will be applied for the first time in Turkey, will be held at 18.57, today. In order to announce the start of the Collapse-Close-Hold Exercise, an information message and a Vital Warning Notification will be sent from the “News Receiving and Spreading (HAY)” (Haber Alma ve Yayma) system. The siren system will not be used to prevent fear and panic.
WHEN AND HOW WILL THE EXERCISE BE HELD?
On November 12, the 23rd anniversary of the DÜZCE earthquake that occurred in 1999, an exercise will be held for the first time throughout the country. The exercise will be held at 18:57, the time of the said earthquake. Accordingly, a message will be sent to the citizens’ mobile phones by AFAD, televisions and radios will make announcements at the same time.
The officials said, We will not use the siren system so that there is no fear and panic. We will reach our citizens with SMS notification, Vital Warning Notification, information from mosque and municipal loudspeakers, television and radio channels.”
INFORMATION MESSAGES WILL BE TRANSMITTED VIA THE HAY SYSTEM
Stating that all announcements regarding the exercise had been made, officials said that the information message sent to the mobile phones of 66 million 154 thousand people on Wednesday via the News Receiving and Spreading System (HAY) would be transmitted today and tomorrow, as well.
In addition, noting that students were also informed at schools, officials stressed that they wanted everyone to participate in the exercise, no matter where they were located.
