5th Istanbul Comedy Festival organized by Besiktas Cultural Center starts in Istanbul

ISTANBUL COMEDY FESTIVAL

Organized by the Besiktas Cultural Center (BKM), the 5th Istanbul Comedy Festival has started.

The opening of the festival was held with a cortege walking from BKM facility to the pier at Besiktas and the “Laughter Yoga” event on the city lines ferry sailing from Besiktas to Kadıköy.

The manager in charge of the festival said, “We are launching the most upbeat festival in the city. During the whole month, the sounds of laughter will be heard from almost everywhere in Istanbul.”

Stating that they aimed this festival to spread to the whole city, the manager said, “We have a very cheerful festival. The weather is also so beautiful that with our joyous energy on such a beautiful day, I hope we will spread this happiness to the city. I hope our laughter never stops.”

FESTIVAL PROGRAM

Held annually in cities such as New York, Toronto, London, Edinburgh, Boston, Brooklyn, Leicester, Auckland and Melbourne, the festival will host more than 220 events, including 82 for adults and 20 for children, on more than 30 separate stages.

This year’s programme will cover many prominent artists such as Demet Akbag, Şener Şen, Ali Poyrazoğlu, Sunay Akın, Zafer Algoz and also many artists from abroad such as Joe Sutherland, Russian comedian Denis Smirnov and many more.
