Announcement from Minister Yerlikaya. 26 migrant smugglers captured in “peace operation”

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that a nationwide Peace Operation had been conducted to combat irregular migration. In a social media post regarding the operation, Minister Yerlikaya announced that 26 migrant smuggling organizers had been captured nationwide.

Minister Yerlikaya used the following statements:

“As part of the peace operation conducted nationwide to combat irregular migration, 26 migrant smuggling organizers have been apprehended.

The General Directorate of Security, the General Command of Gendarmerie, the Coast Guard Command, and the Directorate General of Migration Administration, together with their provincial units, carried out the ‘PEACE IN TURKEY’ operation targeting irregular migration and migrant smuggling organizers.

During the operation: 29,254 personnel and 8,984 teams conducted operations at 6,340 locations. A total of 338,043 individuals were interrogated, including 21,851 foreigners. A total of 26 migrant smuggling organizers, including 8 foreigners, were detained. 1,198 irregular migrants were captured. A total of 783 wanted individuals, including 22 foreigners, were identified. Various amounts of drugs and weapons were seized.”

Minister Yerlikaya stated, “Our relentless fight against irregular migrants and migrant smuggling organizers continues throughout our country. Our operations will continue for the peace of our beloved nation.”
