CENGIZ HOLDING CONSTRUCTION IN BODRUM

Despite the fact that the privatization auction of the 678,000 square meter land in Bodrum’s Paradise Bay has been canceled twice by the Council of State, the decisions were not implemented. The AKP government did not reclaim the land, and Cengiz Holding started construction of villas and a hotel on the land.

Cengiz Construction (owned by Mehmet Cengiz), known for its tenders for airports, highways, metro systems, railways, tunnels, ports, hydroelectric power plants, dams, mines, and nuclear power plants during the AKP era, has initiated a new real estate project in Bodrum. Approximately 100 villas and a hotel operated by Bulgari will be located on the 678,000 square meter land.

Cengiz had purchased the land from the Privatization Administration in 2012 for 277 million Turkish Lira. Despite the fact that the privatization auction of the land was canceled twice by the Council of State, the decisions were not implemented.

Criminal complaints were filed against public officials who did not implement the Council of State’s first cancellation decision. However, no permission was granted for an investigation into the public officials.

Although it should have been returned to the Treasury, construction is underway on the land, currently.
