Antalya achieves great success in international tourism by winning the 2025 D-8 Tourism City Award

Antalya once again drew attention on the international stage. The city that won the 2025 “D-8 Tourism City Award,” organized by the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization, proved its historical and cultural wealth once again. This prestigious award made Antalya the first city to hold this title, further confirming Turkey’s success in tourism.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy congratulated Antalya on this remarkable success. In a statement shared on his social media, he said:
“Our Antalya is once again at the top! This unique city, which has hosted many civilizations from ancient times to the present, has won the 2025 D-8 Tourism City Award. I thank all the stakeholders who contributed to this success and wish it to be beneficial for both Antalya and our country.”
The Selection Process and Importance of the Award
The tourism ministries and officials of D-8 member countries evaluated the candidate cities in an online meeting held on August 28, 2024. In the selection process, Antalya was chosen over Kerman (Iran) and Lahore (Pakistan). Supported by votes from countries such as Bangladesh, Egypt, and Turkey, Antalya triumphed with its natural beauty, tourism infrastructure, and cultural heritage, surpassing the other candidates.
D-8 Secretary General Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam emphasized that the award was not just a recognition but also a symbol of strengthening cooperation among D-8 countries. Antalya’s victory is seen as a significant outcome of efforts to revitalize tourism in the region.
