Banks Take Measures Against ‘Fake Dollars’: Purchase of Certain Banknotes Halted

Some banks have suspended the purchase of $50 and $100 banknotes printed before 2009 until the necessary software updates for currency counting and ATM machines are completed.

As part of efforts to combat counterfeit currency and prevent its circulation, updates and checks on currency counting, counterfeit detection, and ATM machines are ongoing. Banks are implementing various measures to fight counterfeit dollars.

Notably, some banks are only accepting newly printed $100 bills during this period.

It has also been reported that certain banks are not accepting large amounts of foreign currency in cash, while others are refusing to accept $50 banknotes regardless of their printing year.
