Authority ends occupation of beach turned into facility by private site, in Bodrum

The area, which a private site in the Bodrum district of Muğla occupied and turned into a facility, was dismantled today. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has leased the area from the Treasury to create a public beach.

In the Gökçebel area of Yalıkavak neighborhood in Bodrum, Muğla, a 3,379 square meter area in the paradise bay with a blue flag was occupied by a site.

The occupation of the area, where a pier, sunbathing terraces, cafes, and changing cabins were placed, was shared last week by sozcu.com.tr.

The occupation in the area inaccessible to the public was terminated today under the control of the Bodrum District Governorship, Property Directorate, and Security officials.

The site, which occupied the shore in the bay, known as the nesting and breeding place of Mediterranean seals, had been heavily complained about to the relevant authorities by residents of the neighboring site and citizens who came to the bay.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will build a public beach on the area leased from the Treasury to be ready for the tourism season.

After the site’s occupation area was vacated and handed over to ministry officials, it was observed that a security guard was placed.
