Average price of a two-person holiday increased by 33-66 percent

Representatives of the tourism sector have made an assessment regarding the holiday preferences of domestic tourists with the closure of schools.

The holiday season has started with the closure of schools, but tourism industry representatives expect that the share of domestic tourists who accounted for 30-50 percent of hotel occupancy last year will decrease to 20 percent this year.

AVERAGE HOLIDAY PRICE INCREASES BY 33-36 PERCENT

A prominent professional in tourism sector said that the average cost of a holiday for two people this year will increase to 15-20 thousand TL in July, adding a citizen could only go on vacation by reducing the number of vacation days or changing his/her preferred location.

According to said information provided, the average price of a two-person holiday increased by 33 percent to 66 percent compared to last year.

IN-DEMAND FACILITIES INCREASE PRICES BY 200 PERCENT

Same expert noted that they had to increase domestic prices due to cost increases that increased by more than 100 percent, “The increases made vary from facility to facility. A facility that wanted to allocate space to the domestic market increased by 50 percent, while highly demanded facilities increased their prices by 200 percent. Last year, the average holiday for two people in June was at the level of 6 thousand TL to 7 thousand 500 TL, while this year it is at the level of 10-15 thousand TL. In July, this amount reaches 20 thousand TL.”
