Aviation authority announces bankruptcy decision of Airlines Company Atlasglobal

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation declared on its social media account that Atlasjet Airlines had filed for bankruptcy as it was unable to resume operations and its flights had been halted. The same news was published by daily newspapers yesterday, only.

Atlasglobal had stopped all flights at the end of November due to the financial damage it had received in previous years and the increased costs of the new airport in Istanbul; thereafter it had started flights again on 21 December. However, the company had announced in January that it was taking a break from its European flights until March due to seasonally low demand.

Experts say flight licenses are issued to the companies by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and the public authority that licensed this airline company should do its duty of supervision. They note that Directorate General of Civil Aviation has caused and is responsible for the damage consumers incurred, adding same consumers who bought tickets but were not given the opportunity to fly should pursue this issue and should not allow this airline company to leave thousands of victims behind.

Atlasglobal was established in June, 2001 and had its first flight in June, same year.
