AYVALIK, a popular holiday resort on Turkish Aegean

Located in the westernmost part of Balikesir, on the shores of the Aegean Sea, the district is one of the most important tourist centers in Turkey. Although Ayvalık has a large town population in the winter seasons, it experiences periodic population growth due to the influence of tourism in the summer seasons.

Ayvalık, has been home to various civilizations in its history has been hosted on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 2017.
