Bad news for Turkey: US Senate adopts “Armenian genocide” bill

The law “officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide”, adopted in the House of Representatives of the US Congress on 30 October 2019, was also adopted in the Senate.

The bill, which will go to Donald Trump, will have 10 days for approval or veto.

According to the US constitution, if a bill vetoed by the President is adopted once more by a two-thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, the veto becomes void.

At a time when the relations between USA and TURKEY are at a loose end due to conflict in Syria and S400 missile issue, the partnership between 2 allies may have another major blow this time if President Trump does not veto the bill.

The worst part is even if he does but the the House of Representatives and the Senate manage to find two-thirds majority votes the bill still will be legislated meaning deterioration of the partnership between two countries.
