Bill Gates to Invest in Nuclear Energy to Compete with Natural Gas
Bill Gates plans to invest billions more in nuclear energy through his company TerraPower. According to Quartz, TerraPower has broken ground on a new nuclear facility in the state of Wyoming, USA.
Gates commented on his investment in TerraPower, saying, “I have invested over a billion dollars. I will invest billions more.”
While the cost of building a nuclear reactor in Wyoming is close to $10 billion, Gates believes that costs will decrease as more units are constructed, increasing profitability for investors.
Gates also stated that his company’s approach will make nuclear energy competitive with other energy sources like natural gas. In a CNN interview, he expressed confidence that the company can meet its cost targets and be profitable.
