Black Sea Anchovy price falls to five liras forming long queues at fish stalls

"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

Due to abundance of Black Sea Anchovy in recent days, long queues formed in front of fish stalls. Tons of fish were sold within hours when kg price fell from TL 20 to TL. Falling temperatures made fishermen happy causing an abundance of anchovies and thus dropping the prices.

A fisherman said, “About 30 tons of anchovy were sold in a day and added plenty of fish were caught in the last 4-5 days.  3 days ago the kg price was twenty liras. Now it has fallen to five liras because there is plenty of fish on the market now. Earlier fishermen caught 5 tons daily but now they catch about 100 tons. Fishermen here sols 30 tons of fish today”.

Anchovy is the most favorable fish in the Black Sea Region and the locals living here even make a desert of anchovy. Needless to say, it is very tasty and easy to prepare and consume. In Turkey, a great majority of citizens prefer this fish due to its suitable price as well.

Our most recent dalliance with hamsi was this traditional Turkish hamsili pilav recipe (fresh anchovies and rice).

If you love the distinctive flavours of oil-rich fish like fresh mackerel and sardines, and if you love a zingy pilaf dish, hamsili pilav is going to be a favourite for you! ………”
