Greece opens harassment fire on Ro-Ro ship in international waters off Bozcaada

GREECE HARASSMENT FIRE IN AEGEAN

The Coast Guard Command has announced that the Greek Coast Guard units have opened harassment fire on the Komoros-flagged ship ‘Anatolian’, cruising in international waters off Bozcaada. On the other hand, the Coast Guard Command also shared images of the moment of the incident. The footage shows Greek Coast Guard units opening fire and hits on the Ro-Ro vessel.

According to the statement of the Coast Guard Command, at 13.27 yesterday, 2 Greek Coast Guard boats opened harassment fire on the Komoros-flagged Ro-Ro ship named ‘Anatolian’, which was cruising in international waters, 11 nautical miles southwest of Bozcaada.

The statement noted following:

“After the harassment fire opened in disregard of the rules of international law, it was found that there were no casualties and no injured personnel among the 18 personnel on board (6 Egyptian, 4 Somali, 5 Azerbaijani nationals and 3 Turkish citizens). Currently, the ship is being escorted by 2 Coast Guard Boats and an investigation has been initiated regarding the incident in accordance with the instructions of the Çanakkale On-Duty Public Prosecutor.”
