It has been reported in British media that Turkey, Greece, Portugal and Spain are in talks with the UK to open a travel corridor. Accordingly, if the agreement is reached, it is said that Britons who come to Turkey on holiday after July 15 will not be quarantined for 14 days when they return home.

In this situation they will be able spend that time at home if they want to. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had said earlier this week that they were talking at ministerial level about opening travel corridors with some Mediterranean countries where quarantine rules do not apply due low rates of contagion.

A Turkish government official who briefed said newspaper also announced that they were about to strike a deal with Britain for July 15. It should be noted that Turkey had received 2.6 million tourists from Britain last year. Stressing that the two sides had held close talks, the official said: “Britain is a very important country for us. But of course the final decision depends on the rate of transmission of the disease,” he said.

There are also a number of doubts about whether European countries want to strike travel deals with the UK, given its high infection and mortality rate. But officials in several European countries have announced they hope to strike deals that reflect the economic importance of British tourists in Mediterranean resorts ahead of the summer break.
