Date for opening of Sabiha Gökçen metro changes again
Minister Karaismailoğlu, who announced a postponed date for the opening of the Istanbul Airport metro five times, will delay another “gospel”. Karaismailoğlu, who had given December 2021 , June, August and April 2022 dates for the opening of Sabiha Gökçen earlier, has now pointed out this month (September).
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu draws attention with his statements (negative) targeting Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in particular regarding metro lines in the recent period. Karaismailoğlu also promises opening dates for the subways built by the Ministry in Istanbul. However, when the dates are checked out, it turns out that Karaismailoğlu is constantly postponing.
Most recently, Karaismailoğlu said that the Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro would be put into service this month in his speech at the Face-to-Face 100 Day program made by the AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency in Sancaktepe, the previous day. However, Karaismailoğlu had previously promised 4 separate opening dates for the same metro line, none of which realized.
Karaismailoğlu’s explanations about Sabiha Gökçen metro are as follows:
PROMISES NOT KEPT
December 2021: In July 2021, after examining Sabiha Gökçen metro construction the minister said, “Our goal is to carry passengers towards the end of the year 2021” pointing to December 2021 for the opening.
April 2022: The minister gave the second date in his speech at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly in December 2021, saying “We are opening the Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro to service in four months,” and revising the date as April 2022.
June 2022: Days after the speech in the Parliament, Karaismailoğlu examined the works on the metro line in January 2022 and said “We will complete the line in the first half of this year, we will offer the service of our people”. So te opening was postponed to June 2022.
August June 2022: The minister postponed the opening yet again before June. In April 2022, at the iftar dinner where he came together with the site employees, he said “We will be proud to present this project to the service of Istanbulites at the latest in August.”
September 2022: Karaismailoğlu pointed to this month for the opening with the statement “We will offer our Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line to your service in September” in the Face-to-Face 100 Day program of the AKP, which he attended in Sancaktepe the previous day.
Istanbulites are waiting for the opening of the metro, the construction of which began in 2015.
