Breaking News: Another hike in gasoline and diesel expected

GASOLINE PRICES TURKEY

Another hike was added to the hikes in fuel due to the on-going rise in the exchange rate. Diesel which was raised by 1 lira 14 kurus 2 days ago, and gasoline, which was raised by 69 cents, are expected to get another raise starting tonight.

The Turkish lira continues to experience a historic depreciation in the face of the decision of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) to lower the interest rate and the ‘anti-interest rate’ rhetoric of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The dollar rose above 17.62 this morning, renewing its historical record once again. With the increase in the exchange rate and the minimum wage hike, official inflation, which is at 21.31 percent, is expected to exceed 30 percent levels in the coming months. The rising dollar rate is especially felt in food and fuel hikes.

GAS AND DIESEL PRICES RISE AGAIN

According to information obtained from sources close to the sector, another hike is expected to come to gasoline and diesel as of tonight. Two days ago, the prices of a liter of gasoline, diesel and LPG incurred price hikes of 69 kurus, 1 TL 14 kurus, and 70 kurus, respectively.

EPGIS: WE HAVE NO STRENGTH LEFT TO WITHSTAND IT ANYMORE

On the other hand, the Energy Oil and Gas Supply Stations Employers’ Union (EPGIS) stated that they had been suffering due to fuel price hikes and demanded that their profit margins increase at the minimum wage rate increase.

Gasoline price was increased by 62 kurus, diesel by 55 kurus, and LPG by 57 kurus.

EPGIS made an announcement on its Twitter account saying “The Price Increase in Fuel Oil Products is effective as of 21/12/2021; There has been an increase of 62 kurus in gasoline, 55 kurus in diesel and 75 kurus in LPG.”
