Kılıçdaroğlu repeated that he would resign as party leader and prime minister if his vows were not fulfilled within four months.

Main opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has vowed to quit if he does not fulfill his promises to citizens four months after a potential election victory.

“In the first 100 days of being elected, we will come to the region and set the foundation for a cement factory. I will quit if I don’t achieve this goal,” the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, leader said in the northeastern province of Bayburt on Wednesday.

He said his party had not received the votes they expected from Bayburt during the referendum and pointed out that it was his own fault for not visiting them and asking them about their problems; now, however, he said he was there to listen to the locals and find solutions to their problems.

Later speaking in Rize, Kılıçdaroğlu repeated that he would resign as party leader and prime minister if his vows were not fulfilled within four months.

“In the first four months, we will set up the family insurance institution. We will end subcontracting. We will pass the law increasing retirement checks. We will start working on reducing military service to nine months,” said Kılıçdaroğlu, adding that the CHP would solve the country’s issues. “We trust you, and we want you to trust us.”

The CHP chief also called on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to appear in front of the people of Bayburt after the prime minister refused an offer to hold a debate on TV.

Kılıçdaroğlı added that Erdoğan did not accept the proposal because he was scared.
