China Consul General in Turkey Cui Wei says 2 drugs are effective against coronavirus

In an interview on a TV channel in Turkey, China Consul General in Istanbul has provided some very important information about recent progress achieved in China in the fight against coronavirus. Upon questions forwarded by the interviewer the Consul General shared following:

“The drug that actually acts on coronovirus is currently in the R & D process, but within 2-3 months, we have secured the discharge of 70 thousand people with both existing drugs and Chinese traditional medical methods. We found that two of the existing drugs were effective. One is chloroquine phosphate and the other is favipiravir. Favipiravir seems more effective. It’s a broad spectrum antivirus drug.

When we looked at the duration of treatment in the group of 80 people, the nucleic acid negative period of 35 people was 4 days. It took 11 days for the remaining 45 to come out negative. Those who took this drug had a fever of 2.5 days.”

In reply to the question, “So this drug cures patients who will recover in 11 days, in 4 days? Are both drugs widely sold in pharmacies around the world, or are they only available in China?” the Consul General said “All the medicine we use are the medicine that exists in the world”.

Then the interviewer forwarded the question, “How are the vaccine studies? A vaccine is said to have been found in China”.

The Consul General replied, “Two weeks ago, when I was on the program with you, I told you that some vaccines were in the testing phase. A vaccine was approved for clinical trial last night. That’s very good news. We went on five vaccines at the same time with different teams. We let the front-runner vaccine enter the clinical trial this evening. We’re vaccinating volunteers. I think it’s the final stage. Yesterday a vaccine in America also went into the clinical trial process. At least one in the U.S. and one in China went through the clinical trial process in the world. In April, one or all of our vaccines will go through the clinical trial process. Or it could be used in an emergency, even”.
