CHP LEADER WARNS COMPANIES ABOUT KANAL ISTANBUL

CHP leader has warned companies not to enter the KANAL ISTANBUL tender, saying: “we will not make any payments. There’s no money. Why is there no money? My problem is fighting unemployment and poverty. I’m not the kind of person who would provide a handful of rentiers (fund-holders) with profits.

CHP leader Kemal KILICDAROGLU met with members of the national and local press in Gaziantep, on an occasion where mayors workshop was held. He also celebrated “father’s day” and answered questions about Kanal Istanbul, presidential candidacy and early elections. KILICDAROGLU’s responses were as follows:

“I am calling on this occasion here, again… No one should enter the KANAL ISTANBUL tender. The Republic of Turkey is not a country to be plundered. 83 million people cannot be put in a position to serve a handful of “haramzades” (those in possession of undeserved earnings). If they insist to enter in tenders, God willing, once we are in power, we will break off relations with them and break off relations with their country. Man, you’re robbing our government, and I’m going to let you do it? Someone will come and rob the state and we will tolerate them to continue this robbery? No, no country in the world does such nonsense. What law would accept this?

(When we are in power) There won’t be funds (meaning BOT projects by particular companies, 5 of them currently that get all the tenders). Why will there be no funds (to pay them)? My problem will be fighting unemployment and poverty. I will produce, open factories. I’ll encourage production. I’ll invest in the private sector. I’m not the kind of person who would provide a handful of rentiers (fund-holders) with profits.”
