Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that they expected a significant decrease of around 20 points in inflation, particularly during the summer months, due to seasonal effects, the impact of their policies, and base effects. He emphasized that their main priority in their programs was to reduce inflation.

Yılmaz also mentioned that results in the fight against inflation were achieved over a certain period of time, noting a loss of momentum in monthly inflation, which they expected to continue.

YILMAZ said following: “We will see a significant decrease in inflation, especially during the summer months, due to seasonal effects, the impact of our policies, and base effects. I’m referring to inflation in June, July, and August. When you combine these three months, we expect a decrease of around 20 percent, or 20 points. Therefore, until May, we will see an effect coming from the past on an annual basis, not from monthly developments. We will see high annual figures, but with the announcement of June inflation, a downward trend will begin. This will accelerate in July and August, and towards the end of the year, we will see these effects more prominently. In 2025, our program, estimate, expectation, and policy include inflation below 20 percent. In 2026, our country will return to single-digit figures. We have already made the program and plan for this and are implementing it step by step.”

COMPREHENSIVE WORK ON SAVINGS IN PUBLIC SECTOR

Yılmaz also mentioned that they had initiated a comprehensive work on savings in the public sector. He stated that the works carried out by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Strategy and Budget Presidency would be evaluated and presented to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Yılmaz expressed that with these efforts, they aimed to eliminate unnecessary expenses, prioritize spending, and make it more efficient.
