According to the conclusion of a study in which more than a million people from eight countries participated, drinking plenty of tea can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Four or more cups of black, green or oolong tea every day were associated with a 17% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

AT LEAST FOUR CUPS

The findings revealed that drinking at least four cups of tea a day was associated with a 17% lower risk of T2D over an average period of 10 years. The study was presented in Stockholm, Sweden, at this year’s Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).

THE RESULTS ARE EXCITING

“Our results are exciting because they suggest that people can do something as simple as drinking four cups of tea a day to potentially reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, ” said lead author Xiaying Li from Wuhan University of Science and Technology in China.
