E-cigarette epidemic at the door: Teenagers and children exposed to misleading ads

E-cigarettes and heated tobacco products of which the tobacco industry launch new models every day in pursuit of breaking smoking bans and gaining new users, are spreading like an epidemic, especially among children and young people. “Health Yes Association” president and pediatric pulmonology specialist Prof. Dr. Elif DAGLI said ”We could not prevent the smoking epidemic in the past, but we can stop the e-cigarette epidemic.”

It is not possible to legally sell e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products in Turkey. However, legal regulations are not enough. In this area, which is left unsupervised, various types of e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products are sold in front of everyone with door delivery. Indirect or direct advertisements are circulating on the internet again. DAGLI said, ”Such disregard for the laws of Turkey makes my blood boil, as a physician.”
