Borsa Istanbul Ends the Week on a Positive Note

On Friday, August 15, 2025, Borsa Istanbul wrapped up the trading day with gains. The BIST 100 index closed at 10,870.57 points, marking a 0.43% increase compared to the previous session. Throughout the day, the index fluctuated between an intraday high of 10,905.44 and a low of 10,786.84.

Investor interest remained strong in key stocks. Turkish Airlines (THYAO) led the market in trading volume with a turnover of 8.16 billion TL, followed by SASA with 5.65 billion TL, and TERA with 4.96 billion TL.

Top Gainers and Losers in the Stock Market

Among the standout performers of the day were GRNYO, BAHKM, and ALKLC, posting the highest percentage gains. On the flip side, ESCAR, ENDAE, and QNBTR saw the steepest declines.

Looking at sector performance, the electricity, tourism, and chemicals-petroleum-plastics sectors showed notable strength. In contrast, insurance, trade, and communication sectors experienced the largest losses.

Currency Market Update: Dollar Hits 40.90 TL

In the foreign exchange markets, the US dollar continued its upward trajectory. As of 6:30 PM local time, USD/TRY was trading at 40.90, representing a 0.16% daily gain. The euro also strengthened against the lira, climbing 0.66% to reach 47.93 TL.

Gold Prices Edge Higher in the Grand Bazaar

Gold prices continued to rise, reflecting ongoing demand and currency weakness. In Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, a gram of gold was trading at 4,394.83 TL, up 0.38% compared to the previous day.
