Economy in Turkey: Minister Şimşek says “We have sufficient tools, and there is no doubt about implementing the program”

Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, stated, “We have sufficient tools. There is no doubt about the implementation of the program. We are working in close coordination with our institutions.”
Minister Şimşek attended the traditional iftar dinner of the Turkish Banks Association, where he met with the Board of Directors. During the meeting, global and national economic developments were evaluated. Şimşek emphasized that the Medium-Term Program had strengthened the economy’s resilience against shocks and brought it to a strong position.
“We have sufficient tools”
Şimşek stated, “Thanks to the program, significant gains have been achieved, and all necessary measures will continue to be taken to protect and enhance these gains. We have sufficient tools. There is no doubt about the implementation of the program. We are working closely with our institutions.”
He mentioned that the market fluctuations, which were considered temporary, were being closely monitored in coordination with relevant institutions. He also stated that the measures taken, as well as any additional measures that may be needed, had been determined, and the program would continue with determination. He highlighted the banking sector’s contribution to the program and pointed out that, with the improvements in macroeconomic balances, the sector was now stronger and more resilient.
