Economy in Turkey: Price hike in gasoline after increase in diesel prices

After diesel, gasoline also saw an increase in prices. The price of gasoline per liter increased by 1.65 Turkish Lira. Since the elections, diesel prices have increased by 100%, while gasoline prices have risen by 94%.

Starting from midnight on September 13th, the price of diesel was increased by 2.06 Turkish Lira, with the liter price exceeding 40 Turkish Lira in some regions.

Following the diesel price hike, gasoline prices were also increased by 1.65 Turkish Lira, effective from September 14th. With this latest increase, the price of gasoline per liter has reached 38.52 Turkish Lira.

CONSECUTIVE INCREASES

On July 16th, a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette led to a 5 Turkish Lira increase in Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) on fuel, resulting in a 6 Turkish Lira increase in liter prices when including Value Added Tax (KDV).

Since the elections, fuel prices have increased by over 80%. Before the elections, gasoline was priced at 19.81 Turkish Lira, and diesel was priced at 18.59 Turkish Lira. At the beginning of the year, gasoline was sold at 19.48 Turkish Lira, and diesel at 22.06 Turkish Lira.

With the latest increase, gasoline prices have increased by 94% since the elections, while diesel prices have increased by over 100%.
