ERDOGAN SCHOLZ MEETING

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan criticized Germany’s support for Israel, saying, “We don’t owe anything to Israel. But those who owe cannot speak comfortably. We did not go through the Holocaust incident.” Erdoğan made these remarks during his visit to Berlin, where he met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and later with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Erdogan, who is visiting Berlin, met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Erdogan and Scholz held a joint press conference before the meeting. Erdogan reminded the Holocaust (Holocaust) during the speech during the Nazi Germany period. Erdogan argued that Germany is therefore indebted to Israel and has remained silent on the deaths in Gaza.

Olaf Scholz, who took the floor before Erdogan, began to speak by criticizing Hamas. Scholz, in summary, stated:

“On October 7, Hamas carried out a brutal attack on Israel. We condemn this terrorist act in sharp terms. We will talk a little later about what we can do to prevent the tension from escalating. Because we are concerned about the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East. Anyone who knows Germany knows very well that our solidarity with Israel is not open to discussion in any way. Israel has the right to defend itself. The suffering of the Palestinian civilian population and the events in Gaza also make us sad. For decades, Germany has been providing humanitarian assistance in this area.”

ERDOGAN: THERE IS NO SUCH PLACE LEFT AS GAZA

The highlights from Erdogan’s speech were as follows:

“I like to talk clearly and clearly, I will talk that way. Because the date of October 7 is told as a beginning. The process after October 7 is never discussed. As of now, 13 thousand Palestinian children, women and elderly have been killed. There is almost no such place as Gaza, anymore. Everything has been razed to the ground. Can the presence of weapons of Hamas be compared to the presence and power of weapons of Israel?

If we remain tied hand, we cannot give an account to history. It is necessary not to evaluate the Israeli-Palestinian war within the psychology of indebtedness. Look, I’m talking comfortably. Because we don’t owe Israel anything. We wouldn’t be able to talk so comfortably if we were in debt. But those who owe can’t talk comfortably. We did not go through the Holocaust.

The events have once again shown that a two-state solution is inevitable on the basis of the 1967 borders. As Turkey, our goal is to create a climate where peace and tranquility prevail, where Israelis and Palestinians live side by side.”
