Firuz Bağlıkaya, Chairman of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), emphasized the significant increase in reservations for Turkey, stating, “We are working with all our might together with our member travel agencies to achieve the target of 60 billion dollars in revenue and 60 million tourists.” Tourism sector representatives made statements on the occasion of “Tourism Week.”

The chairman highlighted the crucial role of tourism in building bridges of peace between countries and people, stating, “In today’s world, close to 1.5 billion international travels take place annually. Tourism, with its employment-generating and value-adding structure, is an extremely strategic sector, and competition is increasing day by day worldwide.”

Expressing their expectation for Turkey’s continued rise in tourism in 2024, he mentioned significant increases in reservations for Turkey as a source market and noted that the distribution of visitors was mainly concentrated in 3-4 cities.

WE NEED TO ATTRACT VISITORS FROM HIGH-INCOME GROUP AND SPREAD TOURISM THROUGHOUT TURKEY

BAGLIKAYA continued, stating: “We need to change this and attract visitors from the high-income bracket who spend at high levels to our country. Furthermore, increasing the share of high-value-added tourism types such as cultural, health, congress, and gastronomy is important for increasing our revenues. With the ‘Tourism Century’ project we have implemented based on this idea, we aim to ensure that tourism, one of the locomotive sectors of the country’s economy, spreads throughout our country and throughout the year. We will continue to take the necessary steps to spread tourism to all twelve months and across the country to increase both the number of tourists coming from abroad and our tourism revenue.”
