Turkey has already started to feel the impact of the second wave which began in Europe a short while ago. It is reported that serious declines in flights to Antalya, especially from European countries, led to the early closure of the season.

Tourism Working Group of Antalya City Council has shared a post titled “fasten the belts, we are landing” to refer to the problems to come.

The news said “Now we have a very difficult winter period ahead of us. This will be the longest winter in the history of tourism. The main struggle begins now; increasing cases of Corona on the one hand, and a period of at least 5 months that will not move the leaf on the other hand… It will be a difficult process for everyone.”

The article (blog) shared by an official titled “fasten your belts, we are landing” was as follows: “Fasten your seat belts we are landing: We have come to the end of the most difficult season in the history of Tourism. Arrivals declined sharply. Since beginning October, arrivals which averaged around 30 thousand per day, have halved as of October 19. On 19 October 2020, 15,183 guests from abroad arrived at Antalya airport. On October 19 last year, 62,525 guests-including Gazipasa – had arrived. According to recent arrivals, it looks like we’re landing now.”
