Eyes on prosecutor’s office and hearings: Date for mayor IMAMOGLU’s dismissal discussed

While the President of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem IMAMOGLU was suspended from his post and the claims that a new name would be brought in his place are being discussed, sources started discussing the date for this transaction. According to the information obtained by Diken newspaper, authorized parties are planning to implement this decision by middle of January.

DATE FOR IMAMOGLU’S DISMISSAL DISCUSSED

In the news published by Diken yesterday, some sections of the report initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to IBB (Istanbul Municipality) and the report delivered to the prosecutor’s office were sent to newspapers close to the government and asked to be published one after the other. Ministry sources argued that the information about the report was ‘leaked’ from the prosecutor’s office, not from themselves.

The report that many journalists wanted to reach was shared with Sabah and Yeni Şafak newspapers, which are known for their proximity to power, while it was not given to journalists. In addition, it was argued that the extension of the period of the examination of the reports submitted to the prosecutor’s office also caused ‘unrest’ in Ankara, and it was stated that there would be developments in the near future.

IMAMOGLU MAY BE DISMISSED DURING NIGHT HOURS

Following the news published in Diken, according to another source from within the ministry, officials have started discussing dates for taking action against IBB (municipality). Stating that the prosecutor’s office will complete the examination and open the investigation in a short time, the source stated that IMAMOGLU will be dismissed from his post if the indictment is prepared and the trial is started.
