Former AK Party minister draws attention to sky-rocketing cost of living in Turkey

Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Bülent ARINC used statements drawing attention to the cost of living in a program on a YouTube channel he participated in. “If the shopping bag we used to fill for 70 TL cannot be filled with 400 TL now, there’s something, so don’t ignore it. The reason for this is cost inflation”.

Answering the questions of journalist on a YouTube channel, Bülent ARINC, former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly and one of the founders of AK Party made striking assessments. He referred the meat prices and the prices of products in grocery stores and said that he went to the market and saw the prices. He shared following statements:

‘MEAT PRICES’

“They said to us ‘you won’t find meat even for 500 TL the way things are going’, This was said by those around us who know this business. There is a person we like very much at the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and there is a person who comes from inside the business. He will find a solution for this, but I don’t know how much of a solution he will find in the short term. He is a person worthy of the job and a person who has suffered the ordeal of this job. But let me just say that those who opened the door to meat imports from Serbia, Poland etc. in the past did not see this was wrong.”

“THIS IS DUE TO COST INFLATION”

Referring to the ‘cost of living’ he said, “If the shopping bag we filled for 70 TL in the past cannot be full with 400 TL now, there is something, so don’t ignore it. You will accept the problem easily. This is honesty.

We also go to the market, my wife and I. We also see it. Prices in the market place are sometimes higher than in supermarkets. This is due to cost inflation. As the costs increase, it is inevitable that prices will increase as well.”
