Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on an official visit to Turkey at the invitation of Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, warned at a joint press conference that the Black Sea Grain Agreement might be terminated.

Visiting Turkey to negotiate various issues on the bilateral and international agenda, the Russian Foreign Minister said in a statement that peace negotiations on Ukraine can only be possible if a “new world order” is established without American dominance.

Lavrov who claimed that the conditions of the Grain Agreement that should allow Russia to send agricultural production and fertilizers to foreign markets had not been implemented, said, “If there is no progress on removing barriers to Russian fertilizer and grain exports, then we will ask ourselves whether this agreement is necessary.”

RUSSIAN INTERESTS SHOULD ALSO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT

Lavrov also stressed that peace negotiations could only be carried out “taking into account Russia’s interests” adding, “These are the principles on which the new world order will be founded” condemning American “hegemony.”

In March, Russia announced that it had extended the period of participation in the grain agreement by only 60 days instead of the 120 days stipulated in the agreement.
