France to evacuate its citizens if the crisis between Turkey and Greece grows

FRENCH MINISTER IN CYPRUS

While the tension between Turkey and Greece is rising rapidly, an anti-Turkish move has come from France and Southern Cyprus. It was reported that French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and her Cypriot counterpart Yannis Kasoulidis had signed an agreement in Paris yesterday, f acilitating the evacuation of the French during a possible crisis.

The Southern Cypriot press reported that French Minister Colonna had criticized Turkey’s recent rhetoric towards Greece and Southern Cyprus during the meeting. Colonna said that ”Turkey’s aggressive rhetoric had increased instability in the region,” and the evacuation agreement had been signed due to rising tensions.

It was noted that the South Cypriot minister Kasulidis had also conveyed his ideas on the solution of the Cyprus problem to the French minister.

FRENCH MINISTER HAD MADE ANTI-TURKEY STATEMENTS IN ATHENS

French Foreign Minister Colonna, who came to Turkey earlier this week and met with his counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, had made anti-Turkish statements in Athens, where she later went. Speaking to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, Colonna had made a statement of support for Greece in the growing tension between Turkey and Greece. Colonna had also claimed that Turkey was using the refugee crisis as a weapon to destabilize the European Union.
