The bill, which subjects the registration and use of users under the age of 15 on social media platforms in France to parental permission, was approved by the Senate after the National Assembly. The bill, which requires children under the age of 15 in France to get permission from their parents to register on social media platforms, was passed unanimously in the Senate.

According to this, platforms will need to use a system to verify the age of users and whether they have received permission from the guardian of minors. High penalties will be imposed on platforms that violate the rules. Such Platforms may be fined up to 1 percent of their worldwide turnover. Parents will be able to request platforms to suspend the social media accounts of their 15-year-old children.

The law also includes the obligation of social media and online platforms to respond to legal requests for electronic content within 10 days within the scope of judicial investigations. This period of time granted to the platforms will be no more than 8 hours if there is a risk of serious damage to a person or property.

The bill, which was adopted in the National Assembly yesterday, was sent to the Senate for discussion. The bill became law with its approval in the Senate. In order for the law to enter into force, it must be published in the Official Gazette.
