Germany’s Foreign Ministry has announced the removal of travel warnings to 80 countries, including Turkey.

Germany has taken another step in the normalization process that it started with the opening of the holiday season. The German Foreign Ministry said they had lifted the travel warning for 80 countries, including Turkey, which was fully or partially classified as a Coronavirus risk zone, introduced on 17 March 2020 as part of the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Where there are positive developments, there is no reason to maintain restrictions,” German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement.

Only 40 countries with travel warnings remain in Germany after the removal of travel warnings from those countries, but the UK and Portugal are currently classified as variant areas of the virus.

According to data from the German Federal Statistical Office, 71 million people in Germany with a population of 83 million take holidays every year and 50 million Germans spend their holidays outside the country.
