Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati congratulated the chain grocery stores that have adopted a fixed price policy and said that they expected similar steps from other enterprises. Two weeks ago, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş met with the general managers of the four national chain grocery stores with the most branches and made warnings about sales prices.

After these developments, ŞOK and Migros switched to a fixed price policy for certain products. A101, one of the largest chain grocery stores, also joined the fixed price policy.

The loss of the Turkish lira (TL) against the foreign currency accelerated with the lowering of interest rates. With the increase in costs, inflation reached historic levels. While the people have been suffering from hikes that come every day, government officials and the media close to power have been holding holding chain grocery stores responsible for the hikes.

On the first day of the year, ŞOK had announced that it fixed prices on 1000 products throughout January. Migros followed SOK and announced that fixed prices would be applied on 419 basic need products, continuous discounts on more than 3 thousand products, discounts between 25 and 50 percent on all products from 23 different product families.

Yesterday, Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati said that he expected similar applications from other companies. A101 also joined the fixed price application. A101, who attended the meeting with Mehmet Muş, announced that it would fix the price of the ‘2023’ product by the end of January.
