Antalya turning red due to Covid19

During his visit to some places in Antalya, Governor Ersin YAZICI has said, “We want to welcome our guests from next month. We’re prepared for everything. As Antalya, we are ready.” Governor of Antalya conducted inspections on his visit to Manavgat. The Governor paid a visit to the new Government House, faculty construction site and Toki residences under construction in the district and received information from the authorities.

Thereafter he also went to Side, the world-famous tourist area of Manavgat, visited the museum and excavation works on site. He received information about both the excavations carried out and the Temple of Athena. Answering the questions of journalists, Mr. YAZICI reminded that 2020 had been very difficult all over the world due to the covid-19 epidemic, noting that Antalya, a tourist destination was one of the most affected regions.

Governor Yazici also added that the impact of the outbreak had been reduced thanks to measures taken by the government and that preparations had been completed as Antalya for the tourist season in 2021.

The Governor went on to share following: “The tourist season is to begin shortly. Our hope, our expectation is that it won’t be like last year. Actually, we as a city are ready for the season. But, of course, there is an epidemic that has engulfed the entire world. As in the whole world, coronavirus cases continue in our province and our city. Between August September last year, our hotels with a safe tourism certificate had a fairly good period. Those positive three months we’ve had is a good reference for us regarding this year. Tourists returning to their country from here had low rates of coronavirus. By giving a successful exam in this short time last year, I can say that we are also ready for this year’s exam.

Of course, the course of coronavirus around the world and in Europe will affect the season. As Antalya, we are continue our work carefully. Our tradesmen, workplaces and all my countrymen from Antalya continue to live in this city with the precision of being a tourist city. We want to welcome our guests from next month, especially the tourist season. We’re prepared for everything.”

The Governor issued warnings to employees and owners in the open workplaces during his visit to Side. Repeating his warnings, particularly in restaurants, the governor said: “We are going to red as we struggle to change the color of our city to blue. Everyone should be very careful.”

He said restaurants should not let anyone in, especially without the HES code, “we all have to be very careful not to experience the problems we experienced last year. We have to be very careful when the tourist season is approaching.”
