European Commission President Ursula von der LEYEN who has been the target of criticism due to problems in the supply of vaccines, said that the implementation of the vaccine certificate “needed time” and that expectations should not be “too early, too high”. “Developing such a system would probably take at least three months,” Von der Leyen added.
On Thursday German Chancellor Angela Merkel said after a video conference attended by the heads of state and government of EU countries that it would take “about three months” for the EU Commission to build the technical infrastructure for the vaccine document.
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said in his statements before the summit that he supported the application of a vaccine document, adding the GREEN document issued to those who have received the vaccine in Israel can be taken as an example. Kurz noted that gyms, swimming pools, theaters or hotels could also be visited, this way.
