Health, housing, transport and food & beverage sectors also want VAT reduction
The reduction of VAT on food products from 8 to 1 percent has mobilized all sectors, in Turkey. The health, housing, transport and food and beverage sectors have also announced that they request VAT reset and VAT reduction.
President Tayyip Erdogan had announced last week that 8 percent VAT on basic food products was reduced to 1 percent.
However, sectors that have been hit by record inflation rates and price increases in basic inputs, especially energy, have also started to demand VAT relief.
Health is as vital as food
Regarding the issue the Coordination of the Istanbul Chambers of Health Professions shared following statement: “VAT rate in health should be reduced to 1 percent like in food. Because health, like food, is vital, because the course of the economy puts the entire field of health care and citizens who need health care in difficulty.”
