Health Minister says 90 percent of covid-19 deaths in Turkey not fully vaccinated

The coronavirus Science Board convened yesterday under the chairmanship of Health Minister Fahrettin Koca. Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and YÖK President Erol Özvar also attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Minister Koca, YÖK President Özvar and Minister Özer held a press conference. The Minister of Health made statements highlighting the prevailing situation in the country.

He said, “Earlier I had said the light at the end of the tunnel appeared” when our vaccine program began. Today, I can say “it looks like the exit of the tunnel today.” I have stated that the increase in the number of cases in the last 4 weeks is especially due to people who have not been vaccinated.”

“81 percent of cases are people who are not fully vaccinated”

As of today, 81 percent of our active cases are people who are not fully vaccinated. In other words, 81 percent of our cases, which are close to 500 thousand, are people who are not fully vaccinated. 90 percent of hospitalized patients are also non-vaccinated. 90 percent of our citizens who have died are either people who have never been vaccinated or are missing vaccines.

The double dose vaccine rate has exceeded 60 percent. All our efforts are to provide face-to-face training and ensure its continuity.
