High-Speed train between Ankara and Sivas to reduce travel time from 12 hours to 2 hours

There are a few days left for the opening of the Ankara-Sivas High-Speed Train Line. 1.4 million citizens in KIRIKKALE, YOZGAT and SIVAS will have the opportunity to travel comfortably  and economically. With this giant project, the travel time of 12 hours will be reduced to only 2 hours. While the Ankara-Sivas High-Speed Train Line is planned to be opened on April 26, the TCDD General Directorate is making its final tests and preparations on the line.

Turkey got acquainted with high-speed train technology in 2009 with the commissioning of the Ankara-Eskişehir Line. Later, this line was followed by the commissioning of Ankara-Konya line in 2011, Eskişehir-Konya line in 2013, Ankara-Istanbul and Konya-Istanbul lines in 2014. Finally, the Konya-Karaman Line was put into service in January 2022.

TEST DRIVES CONDUCTED BEFORE APRIL 26

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure announced that the Ankara-Sivas High-Speed Train Line would be opened on April 26. An official from TCDD participated in the test drive and answered questions forwarded by media.

He said since 2003, railways had been treated with a new understanding of railways as a state policy, over 370 billion liras had been invested in railways in the last 20 years, and the share allocated to railways in transportation investments had increased to over 60 percent.

13 THOUSAND 896 KILOMETER RAILWAY NETWORK

Stating that significant changes had occurred in the economic and social life of cities with the transition to high-speed train management, he stressed that as of today, there was a 13 thousand 896 kilometer railway network when the Ankara-Sivas High-speed Train Line would be included.
