It has been announced for the first time NASA has found traces of water on the moon’s sunny surface. The historic discovery was made using the stratosphere Observatory telescope SOFIA.

It was announced that the water had been detected in the crater of Clavius, while the crater was located in the southern hemisphere of the Moon.

In a post on his social media account, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said they had confirmed the water on the moon’s sunny surface. “We don’t know yet whether we can use it as a source, but what we have learned about water on the Moon is key to our Artemis exploration plans” he added.

NASA, which previously announced it would unveil an “exciting” new discovery about the Moon on October 26, plans to send a male and a female astronaut to the lunar surface in 2024 under a program called “Artemis”.
